On Sept. 11, 2021, early in the morning, while at her home in Monticello, Gracie Yvonne Johnson fell asleep in death. Yvonne was born April 24, 1940 to FW and Maybell Wilson. She later married Herald Johnson on Feb. 21, 1959 and together they had three children: Lorna, Deborah, and Lloyd. On Dec.25, 1965, Yvonne became a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and would go on to share her faith with countless people throughout her life. Her husband and three children followed in her example and also dedicated their lives in baptism.
Family was at the center of Yvonne’s world and she spent much of her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren sharing her love and wisdom while being an important part of each of their lives. Yvonne found much joy in cooking and was always eager to share a meal with her loved ones; she taught many this valuable skill.
In 2011, Yvonne was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Faircloth. Even in her final days Yvonne took comfort in the faith she shared with her daughter - that one day they would be reunited in a paradise Earth (2 Peter 3:13).
Yvonne is survived by her two sisters: Elaine Blanton and Patricia McIntyre; her husband of sixty-two and a half years, Herald Johnson; her children: Lorna and Paul Osterbye, of Lloyd; and Vanessa Johnson, and son-in-law David Faircloth; her grandchildren: Nicole, Butch, Danny, Ashley, Tabitha, Meagan and Drew; and her great-grandchildren: Jaylyn, Jaisa, Weston, Liam, Logan and Maggie; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The virtual memorial service will be held via Zoom on Sept. 18, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. If you’re interested in attending, please contact David Faircloth at (850) 509-0087 for more information.
