A trio of Berry College women's tennis players who earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors includes Olivia Walton of Monticello, Fla., as well as Juliana Mascagni and Angelle Thornton. The announcement was made on May 9.
In order to qualify for the CSC Academic All-District award, a nominated student-athlete must have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 while also playing in at least 50 percent of their team's varsity contests. Walton, a graduate of Aucilla Christian Academy, teamed throughout the season with Thornton in doubles, mostly at the No. 3 position. Walton also earned a win at the No. 4 singles position for the Vikings in their SAA Championship quarterfinal win over Millsaps. Mascagni, a junior from Atlanta, also earned Southern Athletic Association First Team honors after the conclusion of the 2023 season. She was also an SAA Singles Player of the Week and was part of an SAA Doubles Pair of the Week award. Thornton, from Rome, had a record of 5-7 in singles for the Vikings in 2023. She also is a Student-Athlete Advisory Council representative for Berry College.
The trio moves to the national ballot for potential Academic All-America consideration.
