When the church comes together to act as the hands and feet of Jesus, amazing things happen. During the past couple of weeks, churches from different denominations came together to assist those in the town of Mora, in Cameroon, Africa with medical needs. It began with a 6 month old baby named Iness who had a tumor on her back needing immediate surgery. Then COVID and pneumonia treatment for Martial, a man who runs an orphanage there. All in all, the costs exceeded $2,000.
The Monticello Church of the Nazarene covered the costs of the medical treatments in both cases. After reaching out to to local church members, The Wacissa United Methodist Church and the Monticello United Methodist Church graciously stepped in to provide love offerings to contribute to the expenses. Both Iness and Martial are in recovery with a positive prognosis.
Although we attend different churches, and may not agree on every theological topic, it is clear that God can use us when we chose love above all else. When we are dedicated to being doers of the word and loving our neighbors as ourselves, lives are changed forever.
Because different congregations came together, young parents were able to seek help for their child instead of bury her. Because we came together, a man caring for orphans was able to survive two different severe illnesses and continue doing God's work. Thank you so much to those who said yes. God is moving mountains through you!
