Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry is one of the outreach ministries of Samaritan’s Purse, an international, evangelical Christian, humanitarian aid organization led by Franklin Graham. Volunteers with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) coordinate the collection of shoeboxes for distribution to needy children around the world.
Suwannee Valley Area of Operation Christmas Child will hold a Project Leader Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. The workshop will be held at Madison Church of God, located at 771 N.E. Colin Kelly Highway, in Madison. This meeting is for project leaders, churches and individuals who desire to learn more about the ministry and all others who are passionate about it.
Project leaders are encouraged to bring samples of things they make for shoeboxes in order to share information with other project leaders. Simple items to make will be demonstrated, and each church represented will receive a carton of shoeboxes.
For more information about the workshop and local OCC efforts, call or text (386) 365-7642. You may also email swcrocker@hotmail.com.
Jefferson County will be coordinating with Madison County this year. Once finished shoeboxes are ready, there will be a drop-off location at First Baptist Church Monticello during the week before Thanksgiving. For more information, contact Carol Miller at (850) 559-8233.
