Pastor John Hicks, of Monticello’s First United Methodist Church, will retire after the Sunday Morning Worship Service on June 30.
There will be one combined worship service in the Family Ministry Center at 8:30 a.m. Sunday School will be held at 9:45 a.m. and at 11 a.m. a covered dish luncheon meal is scheduled for Pastor Hicks and Kathy, his wife of many years.
Plan to join in on this going away celebration, and in wishing them all the best.
Pastor Hicks thanked his church friends and family on Wednesday, May 29 with an appreciation dinner in the church fellowship hall; announcing that he was ready for retirement and some much-needed rest.
“God is good! Words somehow don't seem adequate enough to express the abundant blessings we feel in being part of the family and ministry here at First United Methodist Church. So, we are inviting everyone to a celebration dinner honoring God, our ministry, and the relationship we share. Join us! Invite others! Everyone is welcome!”
