Elder Lucius K. Wade, Sr. is pastor of the Refuge House of God Apostolic Outreach Ministry, which is located at 930 Mamie Scott Rd., in Monticello.
His role in the ministry is to provide spiritual leadership and guidance to the members of the church.
That role also consists of providing care and counseling to those that are faced with crisis situations.
As the church's pastor, Wade's responsibilities also include making sure that everyone receives a rich understanding of their spiritual commitments and duties as well as getting to know Jesus as their Lord and personal Savior.
Pastor Wade was led into the ministry while he was still a youngster.
“As a child, I wanted to learn more about God,” he shares. “In my staying before God and studying I attentively listened to His voice and adhere to the call of God.”
Pastor Wade has held several positions in his field of ministry including the role of Assistant Pastor for about 20 years at his former church. He's been active in the ministry for 25 years.
“My responsibilities are to stay before God daily that I may get a divine revelation from him,” he says, “so I may be able to interpret the biblical scriptures to the congregation weekly.”
Pastor Wade also shares that the best part of his position is teaching and inspiring men and women the principles of God, as well as mentoring the youth that they may be productive citizens in society. Also that they may be better fathers, mothers, husbands and wives.
His future goals for the ministry are to continue to build on the foundation of God’s house as God instructs him. As well as meeting the needs of each member as well as those who are not members, but need a listening ear, prayer or counseling. He will continue to ensure that each individual gets an equal opportunity to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Over the years the pastor's family has been very supportive of him as he journeys in his walk with Christ, preaching and teaching the unadulterated word of God. He shares that they have always respected his views, as they too play an active role in the ministry.
His wife Linda has been by his side from the beginning of his journey and is very encouraging, giving and acceptance of his role as a pastor. She is very understanding when it comes to attending to the needs of the members of the church as well as others who may not be members, but may need prayer or counseling from the Wade family.
Pastor Wade says that his wife is a source of encouragement for him, as she often urges him to be led by God and to do His will.
“I thank God daily for my wife walking by my side, understanding and sharing in the vision that the Lord has given unto me,” he goes on to share.
Pastor Wade's sons, Lucius, Jr. and Kevin, also play a great role in supporting their father's spiritual life.
Lucius Jr. is a minister of music and is very skilled on the keyboard, as he started playing at the age of eight. He is faithful in attending services when his military obligations permit.
Pastor Wade was born and raised in Jefferson County. His hobbies include coaching football, farming and spending time with his grandsons, Ja’marion and Marquez Wade. He also spends quality time with his nephews, Trevon and Zaevion, and his niece A’Nyiah. He enjoys spending quality time with his family as often as possible.
When asked what was on his bucket list, Pastor Wade shared that before he leaves this world, he would like to experience a Safari excursion in Africa.
Pastor Wade is employed at Jefferson Somerset and is involved in coaching football. He enjoys spending time at home, on his farm with his animals including goats, cows, chickens, ducks and dogs.
