Planners begin update of comp plan Thursday

Now that the county has submitted its Evaluation Appraisal Report (EAR) to the state as required, the next step calls for the Jefferson County Planning Commission to review and revise the local comprehensive plan to bring it into compliance with state law.
A little history here: Beginning in 2011, Florida has granted local governments more discretion in determining if their comp plans require updating to remain current with new state regulations.
Local governments, however, must nonetheless review their comprehensive plans at least once every seven years to determine if changes are warranted to ensure the plan’s compliance with new state rules enact
