Police respond to shooting

The Monticello Police Department (MPD) reports that on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 11:35 p.m., officers, who were in the area of East Washington Street, heard gunshots and began patrolling to locate any potential victim(s) and suspect(s). Chief Fred Mosley states that when his officers entered the area of Key Street a resident pointed to one of the residences there. As the officers approached the residence, they were informed that an individual inside was suffering from a gunshot wound.
