Ponderings…Or so I’ve heard

Rumors can be a tricky thing to navigate, particularly when one lives in a small town. The nature of an effective rumor is to be enticing, interesting and often scandalous! Although a rumor must be all of these things to survive “in the wild,” what it doesn't have to be, is true. A rumor must be built upon a perceived wrong-doing to be effective. An illicit affair, a scheme of theft, a plot to cause harm. It is important that a rumor has this element, because otherwise, why would anyone care? It needs to involve some sort of perceived wrong-doing to capture people's attention. Next it should involve individuals who seem as if they would ordinarily never participate in these actions. Af
