Ponderings…Storms ahead
When I was still a child growing up in the suburbs of Orlando, I really loved hurricane season. It felt exciting to pick up stray sticks in the yard and tie down loose things on the porch. We always had lots of animals, so a lot of our preparation was making sure all the food containers were more than full, everyone had their identification tags on them, and we had water jugs set aside to use for drinking water when we lost power. We would tape up all the windows and fill the bathtub and all the sinks with water, and when the time came we would huddle quietly with the lights off, waiting as the storm came in.
