Ponderings…The mystery of the massive squash

At the end of winter, before spring began, I emptied most of the contents of my compost bin into our raised vegetable garden, tilling the compost into the soil to ready the garden for the arrival of my new spring vegetable plants. About a week later, as I was adding some rabbit waste into the compost, I was surprised to discover a small, pale sprout that was growing feebly in the depths of the almost-empty compost bin.
