
Ponderings…Unexpected solutions
The recent snow (can't believe I'm typing that!) killed some of the plants in my garden. Some had been struggling to recover through the last few winters we have had, which have seemed to be full of winter storms and cold snaps. It's hard to predict what exactly will survive until it either comes back or it doesn't. A few years ago, I thought for sure that my holly ferns were dead, as the 18 degree weather had turned them to mush, but was delighted to discover tiny little fiddleheads developing from the ruin. Today, those ferns are doing remarkably well.
A few of the rose bushes were not so lucky this year. And despite my best efforts to “wait and see” if they perhaps would bounce back,
