Ponderings…Warm winter wishes

The 21st of December is the Winter Solstice, one of many significant observances that take place in the last few months of the year, and one of my favorites. For those who don't know, the word “solstice” is derived from two Latin words meaning “sun” and “to stand still.” There are two solstices, a winter solstice and a summer one. The summer solstice occurs for our northern hemisphere in June, and is the longest day of the year, marking the official start of summer. The winter solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year, marking the official start of winter. It's all very astronomical; it has to do with the tilt of the Earth
