A recent workshop by the Monticello City Council to discuss the pros and cons of annexing properties on the southeast side of town and get stakeholders’ views on the proposal drew little public participation.
Three individuals turned up for the workshop on Thursday evening, Feb. 1, only one of whom owned property in the target area. The others were a citizen and a community activist.
The result of the discussion was that the council put the ball back on the residents’ court, with the three citizens in attendance promising to revisit the issue once they had had a chance to further discuss the options with the group that they claimed to represent.
