Proposed truck stop jumps first hurdle

The proposed truck stop on Nash Road recently advanced a step, receiving a conditional recommendation for approval from the Jefferson County Planning Commission.
Among the several conditions that the planners recommend, the applicant must do a parking study, as the one submitted was inadequate; install a wooden fence on the property’s western boundary to shield the facility from the view of residential neighbors; and enter an agreement with the county where the business will upgrade a small portion of Nash Road and maintain it in perpetuity.
