Amendment 5, titled the Annual Inflation Adjustment for Homestead Property Tax Exemption Value, is one of the least attention-getting of the six
constitutional amendments that will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.
Amendment 5 calls for an annual adjustment for inflation to the value of current or future homestead exemptions that apply to levies other than those of school districts.
A yes vote on Amendment 5 means that one supports applying an annual inflation adjustment to the amount of the assessed value that is exempted from property taxes. A no vote means that one opposes such an adjustment.
