Public invited to Memorial Day picnic

Laura Young ECB Publishing, Inc.  Memorial Day is Monday, May 26, and the entire community is invited to join together to remember and honor those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The American Legion Otto M. Walker Post #49 is hosting a Memorial Day picnic at 1065 S. Water St. Doors open at 11 a.m., and activities will begin at 11:30 a.m. This year's guest speaker is Lt. Colonel Byron Arceneaux, a post member who recently spent six months on Guam and Tinian with his reserve unit working to update the historic airfields there for modern use.
