Reams asks for a new trial

Former Clerk of Court Kirk Reams, whom a jury found guilty of grand theft on Aug. 27, is asking the court for a new trial, based on what the defense argues was the presentation of inadmissible evidence to the jury.
At issue specifically, according to the defense, is what it calls State Exhibit 70, a PowerPoint prepared by CPA Julian Dozier, who was hired by the Jefferson County Commission to conduct a forensic audit of the clerk of court’s office.
“The report was prepared exclusively for presentation at trial and outlines the testimony of Dozier as presented to the jury,” states the 11-page motion filed by Defense Attorney David Finger via Attor
