Reams’ jury trial begins

Jury selection for the felony trial of former Clerk of Court Kirk Reams began on Monday, May 6, with the attorneys’ opening statements expected to start on Tuesday morning, and the trial to last a week and possibly extend into early next week.
Reams, who was first elected to the clerk office in 2007, is charged with grand theft and organized scheme to defraud.
He is being defended by the father-and-son team of David and Charles “Chuck” Collins and Miami-based Attorney David Finger. Conducting the prosecution are State Attorney Jack Campbell and Assistant State Attorney Eddie Evans.
