When it comes to fun and fundraising, Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) has it in the bag! The Sea Hag Marina in Steinhatchee, Fla., was filled with Aucilla Christian Warriors for the 2nd Annual Casting for Christ Saltwater Fishing Tournament, held on Sept. 24. The all-day fundraiser event was hosted by theac Aucilla Christian Athletic Committee and a success at that! The tournament started at 7 a.m., and the boats were out on the water until 3 p.m., when the fishermen and fisherwomen arrived back at the dockside for weigh-ins. The school collected tournament entry fees along with selling light blue event t-shirts and raffle tickets to reel in the funds.
The 1st Place Trout winner was Marshall Slaughter with 2.11 pounds. 2nd Place Trout winner was Collin English with 1.99 pounds and Garrett Smith took 3rd Place with a 1.93 pounds weigh-in.
The 1st Place Redfish winner was Randy Herring, coming in with a 6.78 pounds catch; 2nd Place was given to Kara Dedge for her 6.78 pounds catch; and Connor Koch took 3rd Place with a 6.2 pounder. Kristen Ogden won the Most Spots on a Redfish, 4 spots. Jr. Angler winners were Corbyn Paulk for Largest Redfish (4.78 pounds), Gabriel Pavlik for Largest Trout (1.65 pounds), and Tuff Hardee Largest Shiner (.38 pounds).
The Casting for Christ Fishing Tournament pulled in a total of 90 anglers who participated in the fundraiser event. All the funds raised through the event will benefit the ACA Athletic Department. With such a great turn out, the next tournament is already being planned.
