Adults interested in earning their GED or becoming proficient in English can register now for evening classes to be offered in the fall through Jefferson County Schools (JCS).

JCS Adult Education Coordinator Christie Owen says, “Having your GED opens more opportunities in the workforce. This year we are partnering with Florida Ready to Work, so those enrolled in our program also will have the opportunity to earn a certificates in Digital Literacy and Academic Employability Skills.”
Students in the local GED program will work individually with a JCS faculty member while progressing at their own pace using Aztec Software's online GED test preparation materials. Cost for one semester is $45, due in August.
For adults who are native Spanish speakers and want to improve their proficiency with English, JCS will offer free Adult English classes. These students will work individually with a JCS faculty member while progressing at their own pace. Owen explains that this class can be helpful as a preliminary step before enrolling in GED prep classes.
Both the GED prep and Adult English classes will take place at the JCS Adult Education Building, located at 545 S. Water St.
To register, scan the QR code or apply in person at the JCS District Office, located at 1490 W. Washington St. Owen will contact all applicants at the end of July to confirm the start date and weekly schedule for the fall.
