The Reverend Ernest Olester Washington, 79, of Madison, Fla. went Home to be with his Master on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthews Church Cemetery, Greenville, Fla. Viewing is 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Pineland M.B Church, Madison. Tillman of Monticello, (850) 997-5553, is serving the Washington family.
Born and raised in rural Greenville, Reverend Washington grew up in a farming family. He attended Suwanee River Junior College and later earned his undergraduate degree in Agricultural in 1964 and his Master's, both from Florida A&M University.
He began his 39-year teaching and administrative career in Jackson County, and years following in Lakeland, Ga.; Jefferson and Madison counties.
He was a pastor in the AME Church for may years, having pastored Galilee, Brim Fountain, Springhill and Allen Chapel AME (17 years).
His love and legacy will be treasured forever by his loving wife, Carrie Akins Washington; son, Ernest (Gilda) Washington; grandchildren, Ernest G., Alexander O., Erica A. and Brian K. Washington and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
