Revised animal control ordinance set for Nov. 6 hearing

County officials have set a Nov. 6 hearing to discuss proposed changes to the animal control ordinance, including language that addresses abandoned animals and dogs running at large.
As Assistant County Attorney Kirsten Mood explained to the Jefferson County Commission on Thursday evening, Oct. 17, Chapter 8 of the county’s code of ordinance needed revising to make it compliant with state law and also in response to commissioners’ requests for changes. Chapter 8 relates to the governance of animals in the county and the operation of the animal control department.
