Revised special exception ordinance set for public hearing today, Sept. 20

With weeks remaining until the moratorium on special exceptions expires, the Jefferson County Commission is readying to adopt a newly revised ordinance that is intended to better regulate such uses going forward.
The ordinance, which is set for a public hearing this Wednesday evening, Sept. 20, represents months of work by the Jefferson County Planning Commission and county attorneys, its aim mainly to close loopholes and better assure that special exception uses don’t proliferate, and that those that are permitted are compatible with existing uses in the respective districts.
