MPD asks for information

The Monticello Police Department (MPD) is asking for information pertaining to a recent robbery that occurred within the Monticello City limits.
On Friday, May 15, at around 11:11 a.m., officers with the MPD were called to a residence on Bowman Street in regards to a robbery that had just occurred.
Upon arrival to the scene, MPD Chief Fred Mosley and Officer John Smith spoke with a victim and resident of the property.
The victim was bleeding and had sustained a non-life-threatening injury.
According to the victim, he had gone out into his yard when he was approached by two black men, one of whom had a firearm.
One man with a gun pointed the weapon at the victim, while the other went into the victim's residence.
The second suspect eventually returned and approached the victim, asking “where is the money?”
When the victim told them that he didn't know, one of the suspects tied the victim's hands behind his back.
The victim said that the two suspects then fled the scene after tying him up.
According to the victim, the two suspects were around six-feet tall, had a slender build, wore dark sweaters with hoodies and were wearing masks.
MPD's Captain Jack Pitts and Investigator James Sauls were called in to assist with the investigation and assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) was requested.
JCSO deputies set up a perimeter of the area, in the events that the two suspects were still nearby and the Jefferson Correctional Institution's K-9 Search Team was called in to track the suspects.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol also arrived to assist JCSO deputies in maintaining a secured perimeter.
Despite involvement the several-agencies, the two suspects were not located. The MPD is requesting that anyone with information pertaining to this active investigation reach out to local law enforcement.
