A local team of young engineers have won first place at a local robotics competition in Crestview, Fla., and are going to the regional tournament. Seven local students won the local FIRST LEGO League Robot Game challenge, surpassing 28 other teams and qualifying for the Regional tournament in Tallahassee in January.
The “LEGO Lunatics” team includes Finn Feinberg (age 13), Jake Peary (13), Thaddeus Kocher (12), Alistair Canup (11), Hugh Kocher (10), Lily Peary (10) and Mason Boudreau (10). The team is sponsored by the Jefferson County Homeschool Association Inc. (JCHAI), and the students are coached by Chris Peary and Buddy Boudreau.
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge is an international competition for students ages 9-14 where teams design and program LEGO robots to complete tasks, work on a solution to a real-world problem, and then meet at tournaments to compete, exchange ideas and display their solutions.
