On Saturday, March 14, the UF/IFAS Extension office in Jefferson County will hold its annual spring expo, beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until 1 p.m. at 2729 W. Washington St.
“The Spring Extension Expo Day (S.E.E.D.) is a way for the extension center to connect with neighbors, friends and youth to learn about gardening and nutrition,” says Extension & 4-H Director Dr. Camille Lewis. “It's a wonderful way to kick off the start of spring. We encourage you to come out to learn and have a good time.”
In addition to information about gardening, there will be a gardening demonstration and a seed packet giveaway, just in time for springtime planting. There'll be resources on healthy living, updates on this year's 4-H clubs and a chance to find out more about cooperative extension as a whole. For snacks, refreshments and lunchtime, a food truck will be on site.
You'll also be able to meet the extension staff who facilitate so many helpful programs for our community: Dr. Lewis's team includes Ag/Natural Resources/Horticulture Agent Ben Hoffner, Family & Consumer Science Agent Melanie Southerland, FAMU Cooperative Extension Agent Emily Nolen and 4-H Program Assistant Fauna Mitchell. They are excited about this opportunity to bring you up-to-date will all that the Jefferson County extension service has to offer.
