Super Bowl LIV victory

Jefferson County's native son, Sam Madison, Jr. as reached another significant sports occurrence in his career as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs football organization – winner of the Super Bowl LIV.
A few months ago, Madison joined the Chiefs coaching staff via recruitment by his former New York Giants defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo.
The two were not strangers, but had a bond formed between two generated Super Bowl winners as player (Madison) and coach (Spagnuolo)
The bond continued when “Spag” (as he's called) coached the L.A. Rams and employed Madison during pre-season training to work with the teams defensive backs and cornerbacks. The bond strengthened when Spagnuolo summoned Madison to join the Chiefs' coaching staff as the defensive backs/cornerbacks coach.
As the saying goes - “the rest is history.”
The two Super Bowls resulted in Madison winning in two conferences – Superbowl XLII in the NFC as a right cornerback with the New York Giants, and Super Bowl LIV in the AFC as a coach.
This is quite an astonishing achievement for a small, rural town young man, whom I might say, loves his hometown of Monticello.
Contrary to some false rumors that Madison disclaimed he is from Monticello, which is totally untrue.
The truth is, that in 1997 when Madison joined the NFL, the media reported that he was from Thomasville, Ga., because he was born at Archibald Hospital; another media representative reported that he was from Tallahassee, since he completed high school and graduated from FAMU-DRS. Madison immediately dispelled these misconceptions and set the record straight – he is from Monticello.
Mary Madison, Sam Madison, Jr.'s mother and spokesperson, says that she would like to take this opportunity to thank the Monticello/Jefferson County community fan base and supporters who have known Junior (as he is affectionately called by family and friends) all his life and has followed his sports career from the beginning. His career, starting in middle-high school, leading on to college and now endeavoring professionally, has been supported by his community.
Mary briefly elaborated on the decades past and the deceased “grassroots” supporters and followers of Sam Madison, Jr.
Mary says she can picture in her mind those individuals bubbling with excitement and pride for Sam Madison, Jr.'s recent, remarkable accomplishments and how they attended his events, telling listeners of Sam's journey in the community.
Mary also stated that she would like to thank the remaining grassroots and acquired fan base and supporters who continue to wish Sam their best wishes and congratulations; she asks that you join the Madison family and friends in being proud of this Jefferson County/Monticello native son.
