Megan Schofill, the Aucilla Christian Academy and Auburn University golf standout, has jumped into her second year exactly where she left off -- winning.
Schofill finished off the 2019-2020 season on the SEC All-Freshman Team, First Team All-SEC and a Golfweek Honorable Mention All-American. Already this fall, she was a co-medalist at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic after shooting a 72 (E) and finishing at 3-under. Her birdie on hole 17 not only helped her claim the co-medalist title, but also helped Auburn finish one shot ahead of Tennessee.
In addition to her most recent win, Schofill is also up for the prestigious ANNIKA Award. This award, described by Schofill as the “heisman for golf,” is presented annually to the top female U.S. collegiate golfer. The final results are voted on by players, coaches and members of the golf media. The list of girls up for this award is slowly slimming down, and Schofill is the only player for Auburn University to still be in the running for it. Schofill is one of just 20 girls in all of collegiate golf up for this award, and the winner will be announced in April or May of 2021.
Schofill is currently ranked #22 in the World Amateur rankings and #17 in collegiate golf. With these rankings, she is no doubt an asset to the Auburn Women’s Golf Team, which is currently ranked #5 in the SEC.
