School board to apply for electric bus funding

The trend toward zero-emission vehicles is making its way into the school bus market. Five years ago, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began its Clean School Bus Program, which was authorized through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support educational districts seeking to make the switch from gas and diesel buses to zero-emission and low-emission vehicle models. Grants, which are awarded to applicants in five rounds on a lottery basis, can be used for buses using electric power, CNG (compressed natural gas) and propane.
