The Jefferson County School District once again has its own in-house chief financial officer (CFO). One significant change made by Jackie Pons upon taking his oath of office as superintendent of schools last November was to begin a transition from using a contracted CFO to one who is an employee of the district. The move followed several years of school board members' publicly voiced dissatisfaction with the performance of an off-site, part-time CFO.
On Jan. 13, the board approved a salary classification and Pons' recommendation to hire Lisa Levingston English as CFO. She started on Jan. 27 as head of the finance department at the school district office.
