School district transfers several properties to county

The Jefferson County School Board voted unanimously on Nov. 19 to approve a resolution transferring ownership of several properties to the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners. The conveyance includes properties that have been under long-term lease by the county to operate the Jefferson County Tax Collector's Office, State Attorney's Office, Property Appraiser's Office, Courthouse Annex, Building/Planning/Veterans Affairs office, the Jefferson County R. J. Bailar Public Library and the Wacissa Volunteer Fire Department. Also being transferred are two buildings not currently in use – the “Old Gym” and the historic “A Building” – as we
