Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, families across the Big Bend region have lost access to SNAP benefits, leaving more than 96,000 individuals in the Big Bend region struggling to put food on the table. In response to the loss of benefits and the growing need in our community, Second Harvest of the Big Bend will host an emergency food distribution to ensure local families have access to nutritious food during this critical time.Each household will receive frozen protein, fresh produce, pantry staples, milk, and bread. This emergency effort is made possible thanks to the generosity of community partners and volunteers stepping up to meet the surge in need.
To meet the ongoing need across our 16-county service area, Second Harvest is supporting partner agencies that are hosting food distributions throughout the region. Neighbors can find details and locations by visiting fightinghunger.org/find-food.
