With things heating up for next month's Second Saturday celebration, the Monticello Merchants Association is finding new ways of keeping citizens cool! On Saturday, Aug. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., you won't want to miss the Monticello Merchant's Back to School Water Bash!
While the July celebration showed limited attendance due to the heat, Monticello business owners and merchants know that consistency is key to promoting all the best that Monticello has to offer in the ways of art, crafts, antiques, boutiques and more! Participants in August's Second Saturday can finish out the summer with some fun in the sun! To beat the heat, the usual bounce house fun jump will be replaced with an inflatable water slide, and there will be plenty of refreshing kiddie pools for younger kids available, to sit down and have a splash on Dogwood Street! Additionally, there will be small sand pools present with beach toys for a little ocean fun on the inland.
In addition to these cool new water features, this Second Saturday will also include some tried-and-true favorites: cotton candy vendors, snow cones, ice cream, local craft vendors, karaoke and extended shopping hours for the downtown area.
In the true spirit of back to school mindfulness, school supply donations will also be accepted at all participating shops located downtown. Folders, notebooks, pens, pencils, art supplies, rulers, hand sanitizer, and more can be dropped off to help support families and teachers in need of a little boost to get the school year started off right. All supplies will be collected and donated to local schools and organizations for distribution.
