
Senate bill aims to defeat minimum wage requirements in some instances

A proposed bill making its way through the current legislative session would allow employers to sidestep the state’s minimum wage requirement if they are able to classify certain positions as job training, according to a report in The News Service of Florida.
Senate Bill 676, recently approved in the Commerce and Tourism Committee, aims to provide an exemption to the minimum wage amendment that Florida voters approved in 2020 and that sets a minimum wage goal of $15 hourly by 2026.
