Senior Center suffers extensive flood damage

The severe storm on April 10 and 11 brought significant flooding in the Jefferson County area, which blocked roads and damaged several buildings. The local Jefferson Senior Citizens Center was one such building which sustained heavy damage from flooding due to its low elevation. The retention pond and the drains in the parking lot were not enough to divert the water, as heavy rainfall filled the drains and clogged them with debris, allowing water to accumulate and breach the building.
The damage, which was discovered on the morning of Thursday, April 11, is being assessed by a water extraction company. It was evaluated to be category 3 water damage,
