The Jefferson Senior Citizens Center recently welcomed support from AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. On Feb. 17 and 24, a group of 14 AmeriCorps volunteers aged 18 to 25 spent a total of eight hours at the center. During that time, they helped with environmental clean-up, office clean up, moving and arranging office furniture, playing music and entertaining games of bingo with the seniors.
AmeriCorps offers opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds to be a part of the national service community. The agency places more than 200,000 volunteers in service roles, whether long-term, short-term or one-time engagement
