Once again the Jefferson Senior Citizens Center (JSCC) prepared a wonderful meal for seniors in our community. On Thursday, Nov. 18, the center's kitchen warmed up with all the traditional tastes of Thanksgiving. Clients and board members were treated to plates filled with roasted turkey, sliced ham, collard greens, candied yams, yellow rice and dressing with gravy, followed by a choice of cake, cookies or pie for dessert. Each table was set with golden cloths and beautiful bouquets of fall flowers.
“We had a very good time,” said Older American Act Coordinator Annie McDuffie. “We all enjoyed it and everyone was full!”
JSCC will be closed on Thanksgiving Day itself, but its clients were blessed with this early celebration and can look forward to a Cake and Ice Cream Social at lunchtime on Friday, Nov. 26, followed by games and a movie after lunch.
Anyone interested in more information about becoming a client at JSCC can contact the center at (850) 342-0242. McDuffie says that potential clients are encouraged to arrange several visits the center to experience the services. Those who want to take the next step and become a JSCC client will have an evaluation to ensure that a safe, enjoyable and individualized plan can be in place. Services are free, and clients can participate on a daily basis or occasionally for special programs.
