Triple L (LLL), a senior group sponsored by the First Baptist Church Monticello (FBC), received a visit from Jefferson County Sheriff Mac McNeill and Investigator Dan Williams on June 28. Together they shared information with the group about the dangers of scams and what to look out for.
Their advice about phone scams was simple, “If the phone rings and you don't recognize the number, don't answer. Let them leave a message.”
Don't be embarrassed to report fraud. Call the Sheriff's Office at (850)997-2523 or go to https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/. Protect your community by reporting fraud, scams and bad business practices.
To learn about the latest scams, and get advice to help you avoid, report and recover from them go to https://concumer.ftc.gov/scams.
LLL meets at 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the FBC Monticello Fellowship Hall (325 W. Washington) for a time of fellowship and lunch. All are welcome to attend. You do not have to be a member of the First Baptist Church to participate in this morning of sharing and Christian fellowship.
The next meeting of LLL is scheduled for Tuesday, July 26. Contact Acting President Maggie Shofner at (850) 997-2442 for more information.
