Sheriff’s oversight of emergency management reaffirmed

County officials recently reaffirmed the oversight of Emergency Management by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) for budgeting and auditing purposes.
As County Attorney Heather Encinosa explained it to the Jefferson County Commission on
Thursday morning, April 4, the interlocal agreement between the county and JCSO will continue the latter’s oversight of EM, but it will add procedures going forward to clarify the situation.
She reminded the board that in the last annual audit, the auditor had advised the county that the funds related to emergency management were not being properly budgeted, which had required additional work.
