Shots rang out off of East Clark Avenue at approximately 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, causing multiple incoming 911 calls. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), Monticello Police Department (MPD) and Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) were dispatched in reference to someone shooting a gun in the area.
According to a JCSO report, the evidence on scene revealed the identity of the suspect, Roberto Rodriguez, as well as the firearm that had been used. After further investigation, JCSO deputies determined that Rodriquez had discharged the firearm.
Rodriguez is a convicted felon, therefore he was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and reckless discharge of a firearm. Rodriguez’s bond was set at $30,000 and as of press time, he remained in the Jefferson County Jail.
