Sixty years of the Civil Rights Act

As of July 2, 2024, and beyond, it has been sixty years since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law. This act was the result of a struggle that had lasted centuries; it ended legal segregation, prohibiting separation of individuals by race in public places such as schools, libraries, public transportation and other places. Furthermore, it also prohibited many kinds of discrimination based on other factors, such as sex, religion, national origin and other characteristics.
