The winner of a handmade quillow from the SnappHappy Feral Cat Sanctuary fundraiser was Joanne Barker, an employee of Swann Insurance Agency.
Barker was one of the generous donors that purchased tickets for the quarterly fundraising event that raised over $400 for the non-profit organization.
SnappHappy Feral Cat Sanctuary relies on the generous donations of area residents and cat-lovers. When the funds get low for the care of these feral cats in the sanctuary's care, a request for donations goes out to the community in the form of a fundraising event.
This February fundraising event was held in partnership with Johnston's Meat Market, who provided the BBQ meat that SnappHappy sold for the fundraiser.
With a $30 gift donation to the sanctuary, donors received their choice of a delicious meat product from Johnston as well as a raffle ticket for a handmade kitten-patterned quillow.
A "quillow" is a quilt with a reversible pocket strategically sewn on the quilt so it can be folded up to fit inside the pocket, making a pillow, making for a perfect sleepover accessory for children or a nice item to keep in the car on long trips. You can put your feet in the pocket while covered with the quilt.
All funds donated to the SnappHappy Feral Cat Sanctuary go directly to the cats for food, litter and medical expenses.
In 2019, more than 70 cats came under SnappHappy's care or were born at the sanctuary.
The Jefferson County Humane Society and Animal Control assist with the cost of spaying and neutering the cats; locals through spreading word-of-mouth and PetsMart in Tallahassee helps with the adoption of cats that are able to find homes, but the majority of the sanctuary's daily operating costs still depend on the donations and goodwill of the Jefferson County community.

SnappHappy Feral Cat Sanctuary has been in existence since 2013 and has taken in more than 300 cats and kittens during its seven years of operation.
Thank you to all those who donated to help SnappHappy provide a happy home for these homeless felines.
