Social media ban for minors signed into law

Despite initially vetoing a bill to restrict minors’ access to social media platforms, Gov. Ron DeSantis days later signed into law a modified version of the bill after compromise language was inserted into the measure.
The revised bill, as signed by the governor on Monday, March 25, bans social media accounts for children under 14 years of age and requires parental permission for 15- and 16-years-olds. It becomes effective on Jan. 1.
