We live in a confusing and often unfair world. On this side of eternity, if we are honest with ourselves, we may say that the current situation in our world is unfair.
I feel for those graduating that are going to miss celebrating with friends and family. I hurt for those that have lost loved ones and those that are affected financially or otherwise because of this virus.
Through it all, our hope lies in the One that knows us intimately and was not surprised by this pandemic. He sympathizes with us. Only time will tell how God is going to use this time for His glory and to bring people to Him.
As much as I would love to get back to the “normal” way of life again, I spend each day looking to see how my normal pace may have been pulling me away from my relationship with God.
On the parent Facebook page, I have been providing messages that are meant to be watched as a family and interacting with those who pose questions and offer discussion. I pray that you are watching those and that they are beneficial to you and your family.
All Elizabeth Baptist Church activities for the next few weeks will be considered canceled. I am planning to have a youth activity at the end of May on Saturday, May 30; however, this depends on the spread of the virus and the response to that.
Youth Camp has been canceled. I received news last week that Lifeway has canceled the camp that we have attended and planned on attending this June. Nothing has been scheduled to replace that as of now.
Pickett Lake Camp has not been canceled. This is still a conversation and subject to the virus and how it weakens. But as of now, we are still planning on Pickett Lake Camp for children in second to fifth grades. Registration will begin in the next month.
If you require anything, please feel free to reach out to me anytime. I am praying for the families of this community as well as the schools and faculty members.
I long to be back at schools ministering to students, to see children running around our campus, and to hear young people talking and laughing. But I know that God is working in our country and world to draw us back to Him.
As I have said each week in our sessions, do not waste your quarantine time! Take time to read your Bible, pray, seek His face, repent of sin, and stay in community with your church family – even though it may look different. We do not want to come out of this season in our lives with nothing to show for it. Seek God and His righteousness!
