Football fans attending Jefferson Somerset Tiger football games next fall will certainly be impressed when they walk into the stadium. Instead of the typical high school scoreboard that shows “Home” and “Visitor” scores, the time remaining, down and distance and maybe where the ball is placed on the field; a brand new digital scoreboard capable of showing high definition video will greet football fans. “This is going to be the 'crème de la crème' in terms of a scoreboard,” said Jefferson Somerset Head Football Coach, Ira Reynolds. “This is going to be a great addition, not only for the football team, but for the community. This is going to be the biggest Jumbo-tron of any high school stadium in the state.” The scoreboard will be built by Daktronics, the leading name in designing and manufacturing electronic scoreboards, programmable display systems and large-screen video displays.
In addition to football games, Coach Reynolds said there are plans to use the scoreboard to show movies for a weekly “movie night.” “We really want this to be something good for the entire community,” added Coach Reynolds.
Coach Reynolds is currently seeking sponsorships for the new scoreboard. NextEra has already signed on as a major donor. “We're looking for sponsors of all levels.” Anyone wishing to help sponsor the new scoreboard can call Coach Reynolds at (850) 508-3185.
