While I waited to check out Winn Dixie I had a conversation with the high school cashier that is worth sharing. The woman in front of me had just bought a large bag of carrots. "Are these for your horses?", the girl asked. She began to talk about how much she loved horses and always wished she could learn to ride.
The cashier shared an idea she had for her high school. Maybe as a sophomore next year the school would offer a riding club as part of the curricula or even an equestrian program students could sign up for which would offer riding lessons and time spent with local horses. Jefferson County has many qualified horse people who might be interested in helping out with an equestrian program at the school. I plan on contacting the Jefferson County school system and the new high school principal, Mr. Pons to discuss this idea. Join me in helping our youth have their dreams come true!
