
Special Olympics Torch Run goes through Jefferson County

The Rapid Response Team and K-9 Team from Jefferson Correctional Institution (JCI) were joined by members of the Monticello Police Department (MPD) and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) on Wednesday, April 9, as Jefferson County did its portion of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
Around 8:30 a.m., more than 20 participating officers gathered on the south steps of the Jefferson County Courthouse and raised the Special Olympics Flame of Hope. Then correctional officers from JCI, wearing royal blue 2025 Torch Run shirts, began marching down South Jefferson Street with the torch carried this year by Officer Elijah McNai
