Aucilla Christian Academy's new bus driver, Joshua Hawkins, describes himself with three words: disciple, father, husband. Now he embraces the school mission and ministry while making the safe transport of its students his number one priority. His previous experience in youth ministry and athletic coaching makes him well suited to the new job.
"I am excited to drive the students. I enjoy all ages for different reasons, which is great because on the bus you have them all!" he says.
It's important to him that his riders follow the Golden Rule and treat others the way they want to be treated.
"I want students to know how much we care for them and their relationship with Christ."
Hawkins is a student himself, currently majoring in sociology at the University of Central Florida. Previously he received his AA degree from Tallahassee Community College.
Hawkins grew up in Wakulla County and moved to Monticello three years ago, where he lives with his wife, Liz, two daughters, four-year-old Sophia and three-year-old Selah, and a newborn son, Ryder. He enjoys coaching, woodworking and hanging out with his family.
