State responds to Kirk Reams’ request for new trial

Five days after attorneys for former Clerk of Court Kirk Reams filed a motion asking for a new trial, the state responded with its own motion asking the court to deny the defense’s motion and allow the matter to conclude.
“The defendant has now had a fair trial before his peers, he has been convicted and their verdict should not be otherwise disturbed by this court,” wrote State Attorney Jack Campbell in a seven-page motion filed on Sept. 11. “It is time for this matter to conclude.”
